Flamenco

  • Youth Flamenco (Basics & Foundation)

    This is the perfect class for students ages 5-12 who have never taken a flamenco class before or those who need a refresher. You don’t need to have any dance experience. If you do have dance experience, it is still recommended to start with the youth level. In this class we dedicate time to establish an introductory foundation in technique that focuses on: floreo (hand movements), braceo (arm movements), zapateado/taconeo (footwork), marcajes (marking steps), compas y palmas (rhythms and hand-clapping), giros (turns) and proper placement of the body, and jaleo (calls of encouragement used in flamenco to cheer one another on).

  • Beginner I Flamenco (Intro to Flamenco)

    This is the perfect class for adult students who have never taken a flamenco class before or those who need a refresher. You don’t need to have any dance experience. If you do have dance experience, it is still recommended to start with the beginner level. In this class we dedicate time to establish an introductory foundation in technique that focuses on: floreo (hand movements), braceo (arm movements), zapateado/taconeo (footwork), marcajes (marking steps), compas y palmas (rhythms and hand-clapping), giros (turns) and proper placement of the body, and jaleo (calls of encouragement used in flamenco to cheer one another on).

  • Beginner II Flamenco (Technique & Choreography)

    This class is the next level up for adult students who have consistently studied flamenco in the Beginner I class. This class runs at a faster pace and is an added level of difficulty in comparison to the Beginner I Flamenco class. The palos for choreography covered in this class include Sevillanas and Tangos.

  • Intermediate Flamenco (Technique & Choreography)

    This class is a higher-level offering for adult students who have consistently studied flamenco for at least one year or more. In this class we’ll cover technique in: floreo (hand movements), braceo (arm movements), zapateado/taconeo (footwork), marcajes (marking steps), compas y palmas (rhythms and hand-clapping), giros (turns) and proper placement of the body, and jaleo (calls of encouragement used in flamenco to cheer one another on). Techniques learned will be applied to choreography to further challenge yourself and learn more flamenco. The palos for choreography covered in this class can include any of the following: Bulerias, Solea, Solea por Bulerias, Seguiriyas, Tangos, and more.

  • Advanced Flamenco (Technique & Choreography)

    This class is the highest level for adult students who have consistently studied flamenco for at least two years or more. This class runs at a faster pace and is an added level of difficulty in comparison to the Intermediate Flamenco class. Techniques learned will be applied to choreography to further challenge yourself and learn more flamenco. The palos for choreography covered in this class can include any of the following: Bulerias, Solea, Solea por Bulerias, Seguiriyas, Tangos, and more.

  • Castanets I (Palillos)

    This class is for learning how to play flamenco castanets. This is a beginner level class where you will learn how to use castanets as percussion and to accompany your flamenco dancing. The class will also cover strengthening techniques for the clarity and articulation of the finger hits.

  • Castanets II (Palillos)

    This class is for refining and expanding how to play flamenco castanets and leveling-up your knowledge. In this class you will further learn how to use castanets as more skilled percussion and to accompany your flamenco dancing at a more advanced level. The class will also cover strengthening techniques for the clarity and articulation of the finger hits.

  • Palillos (Castanets) Workshop

    This is a great workshop for learning how to play flamenco castanets or leveling-up your knowledge. This is an all-levels class where the material covered will be beneficial for beginners through intermediate/advanced students. You will learn how to use them as percussion and/or to accompany your flamenco dancing. The class will also cover strengthening techniques for the clarity and articulation of the finger hits.

  • Bata de Cola Workshop

    Students will dive into the art of maneuvering the bata de cola. Students need to have their own bata and be able to bring it to every class. The workshop will build a foundation of basic bata technique and/or choreography.
